About Us
WHO WE ARE
OX1 Collective is an independent group of six documentary and street photographers based in Oxford. We are connected through a shared passion for storytelling and a belief in photography as a tool for observation, reflection, and connection. We document real moments, public life, and the complexity of human experiences in urban environments.
WHY WE FORMED THIS COLLECTIVE
OX1 Collective was born out of a desire to collaborate, grow together, and amplify the voice of independent photography. In a world saturated with fleeting images, we value slow observation, honesty, and visual narratives that reflect the world as we see and feel it. Coming together allows us to exchange ideas, support each other’s practice, and reach wider audiences—while remaining true to our individual photographic voices.
WHAT WE DO
– We produce street and documentary photography focused on daily life, public space, protest, identity, and the poetry of the ordinary.
– We organize exhibitions, collaborative projects, photo walks, and publish both digital and print works.
– Our work spans cities, cultures, and languages, yet is grounded in a shared desire to make sense of the world around us—one frame at a time.
OUR MISSION & VALUES
We believe in the power of photography to tell stories that matter. Our mission is to observe, document, and share images that reveal truth, inspire empathy, and reflect the social, political, and cultural contexts we live in. We value independence, collaboration, integrity, and long-term visual engagement over trends or spectacle.
